Catherine, who has written over 20 books for children and illustrated many more for other well-known authors, including Julia Donaldson and Michael Morpurgo, will be onsite for the opening day of the exhibition, Saturday 17 July between 12 noon and 2 pm, to meet visitors and sign books.

Nunnington’s exhibition will be the largest-ever display of Catherine’s original work. It will explore many of her much-loved characters, which have been adapted for musicals, television and theatre. As visitors explore the exhibition, they will spot all kinds of creatures, from the kingfishers inspired by the local wildlife found at Nunnington, to tigers from far-off lands – they may even discover dragons and unicorns if they look carefully. Visitors can find some of Catherine’s favourite books to read, fun and creative activities to have a go at, as well as a selection of Catherine’s sketchbooks used to create her favourite characters.

There is no need to book a visit to see the exhibition. The hall is open from 10.30am-3.30pm, with last entry at 2.45pm. The gardens are open 10am-5pm, with last entry at 4pm. For more information about visiting Nunnington Hall, visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/nunnington-hall  or call 01439 748283.
