Welcome to Blank Canvas Art Club – skills-based fine art classes for everyone aged 6-106! This new York-based art class is currently running imaginative kids’ sessions online that encourage your child to learn about colour & texture, form and shape, scale and perspective plus many more art basics using different techniques & skills.
It’s well known that art can help boost children’s confidence and self-esteem as well as increase their problem-solving abilities and so much more. In these days of the pandemic, with homeschooling often focusing on maths & English, these classes bring some much-needed art time with full tutor interaction.
Each term is different and contains a variety of different class topics and approaches, from looking at a famous artist, and trying to replicate one of their pieces of work, to practising our specific skills like using watercolours, tonal shading or perspective etc, to imagination lead sessions. During lockdown, it’s also especially colourful!
Every child is encouraged to be themselves, to find their own style and hopefully have some fun along the way. For the little ones, these classes aren’t messy play, or about them colouring in between someone else’s lines, but the freedom of creating their own. For the older ones, this is no pressure art exploration that will support their art education in an informal way with no pressure or exams, and all kids get a say in what they study the following term!
