Swimming isn’t just a skill for life, it’s also a really lovely thing to do with your little one. We’re lucky in York to have an amazing selection of swimming lesson options for children of all ages, from babies to big kids, and Baby Swimmers is one of the longest-running. They run swimming classes at a variety of venues across York – ROKO, New Earswick, Kilima Hotel and Robert Wilkinson School – and they’re kindly offering 10 weeks of classes for one lucky winner. About Baby Swimmers York
Baby Swimmers & Swimmers Academy run fun swimming classes for your little ones from 6 weeks upwards. They have put together a structured awards programme using STA Starfish and Stanley Awards so you can see your babies, toddlers and older children progress to confident swimmers.
For babies – Baby Swimmers follow the Starfish Awards, so little ones can gain water confidence and build a foundation to swim unaided in the future. They will play games and sing songs which are skill related and also teach water safety skills so they can learn to swim back to the side, hold on and climb out when they are strong enough. These structured classes work towards this and are also fantastic for bonding with your little one, as well as enjoying yourselves in a fun relaxed atmosphere, which they always ensure is at your child’s own pace including underwater swims.
For toddlers they follow the STA Stanley Awards, so again little ones can gain water confidence and build a foundation to swim unaided. For this age group, they will still sing songs and have fun with games and also start to teach the basic strokes, continuing with water safety skills and teaching your toddler to hold on, turn, then push off the side to swim to you independently. Classes for children aged 4+ are held in Leeds, Pocklington and Stamford Bridge.
