Ghosts in the Gardens is back for another spooky season, with ghostly figures appearing in York Museum Gardens and green spaces across the city. Free to do and easy to combine with a day exploring York, it’s one of our favourite October activities for families. See if you can find them all!

The Little York Ghost Hunt (FREE!)
The ever-popular Little York Ghost Hunt returns for 2026 and is one of the most popular free events in York during October half term. Each evening a hundred of York Ghost Merchants’ little ghosts are hidden along the atmospheric streets that flank York Minster and if you find one, you can keep it!
