Castle Howard is just a short drive from York, and it's a wonderful place to visit with children. Made famous by Brideshead Revisited, Castle Howard is famous in our family for its beautiful woodland – perfect for little explorers – and a brilliant adventure new adventure playground (Skelf Island) that's suitable for all ages and is one of the best in Yorkshire. The house itself is gorgeous and, although not suited to marauding toddlers, does have some hands-on activities for younger visitors. It’s a gorgeous family day out at any time of year – the setting is second to none and there’s plenty to do. Keep your eye out for some fantastic holiday activities for children, especially around Christmas, Easter and the summer holidays. Pre-booking is required.
