Gunpowder, treason and plot at The Bar Convent

This October half term, The Bar Convent needs your help to track down a gunpowder plotter! Take their exciting self-led trail through the exhibition from Monday 25th October to Saturday 6th November 2021, 10 am to 5 pm (closed Sundays). A family ticket for two adults and two children is just £10 and the trail is included.

“You might have heard of Guy Fawkes and the plot to blow up parliament in 1605, but he didn’t work alone… I was one of his co-conspirators. Together we tried to overthrow King James I. Even though we weren’t successful, the Gunpowder Plot made history. Guy Fawkes became one of the most famous names ever to come from York – while I’m hardly known in comparison. If you want to discover my identity, and learn about my links with the Bar Convent, you’ll have to follow my trail. Look out for my letters hidden through the exhibition. If you can work out my name, there’s a prize in it for you!”
