Mary Ward’s Wordsearch at The Bar Convent
Visit The Bar Convent’s exhibition and follow the story of the Yorkshire pioneer, Mary Ward, on her journey for equality in women’s education and religion. Her mission took many twists and turns and her determination and bravery inspired her followers to establish the first school for girls in the country in London, and the second here on the site of the Bar Convent in York.
400 years after she began her mission, her legacy lives on as the Bar Convent stands tall as the oldest convent in England. And, as for educating girls, there are now around 200 Mary Ward schools worldwide. Look for letters from Mary Ward and complete the word search to win a prize of sunflower seeds as a symbol of joy, one of Mary’s most important values!
