Explore the woods at Northwood Trail

Northwood Trail, England’s Fairy Sanctuary, is a magical place to visit with children, just outside Stamford Bridge. Set in 100 acres of stunning woodland, spot the fairy doors, get lost in the maze and enjoy the peace and quiet. Don’t miss the little fairy museum, and make sure you have time to stop at Northwood Kitchen for a drink or something to eat. They do kids’ parties too!

Dark Skies Festival Moors

Dark Skies Festival 2022

Look to the skies this February half term with the Dark Skies Festival 2022 in the glorious North York Moors. Taking place from 18th February to 6th March 2022, there are fun activities for the whole family. As well as the usual favourites, from night zips at Dalby Forest to ghost walks in Robin Hood’s Bay and stargazing, there are some new events including a dark skies exhibition and a mindful night walk. Dates and times are still to be confirmed, but put the dates in your diary and check back here – we’ll confirm all the details as we have them.

Get back to nature and have fun with friends at United Adventure Camps. Held at various locations including The Mount School York, these unique holiday day camps give children and young adults an exciting multi-activity experience with the chance to enjoy loads of activities like team sports, craft, archery, games, drama, specialist activities, excursions, theme days and bushcraft.

That JORVIK Viking Thing

Although the JORVIK Viking Festival 2022 has been postponed until later in the year, there’s still plenty of Viking fun to enjoy during February half-term. JORVIK Viking Centre will host the world’s largest online Viking Festival during February half-term 2022, with interactive activities, livestreams and video on demand so you can immerse yourself in Viking life at home!

Go for a winter walk

There’s nothing better than a bracing winter walk, and we’ve got plenty to choose from. From a circular walk at Askham Bog to the Little Vikings I Spy Trail around York city centre and the white horse walk at Sutton Bank, we’ve got it covered (but it’s up to you to remember the snacks).
