For children who want to channel their inner Indiana Jones, DIG is just the place. Run by York Archaeology (the experts in all things Viking who also run the JORVIK Viking Centre), this is a fun, hands-on archaeological experience aimed specifically at children. Visits are led by a guide (a real archaeologist, no less) so this is a real learning experience: children can excavate in replica pits and see what treasures they can find. Our children absolutely love DIG and often ask to go back – it’s great for young and older children alike. Friendly staff, thoughtful displays and exciting exhibits make this a great destination.
