If you missed your ice skating fix last year, don’t worry. Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland returns to York Designer Outlet for 2021 with 975 sq m of real ice to glide, slide and wobble around. Hungry/thirsty/cold after your exertions? Fear not – overlooking the ice rink is The Chalet, a cosy alpine-themed, après-skate café and an ideal spot to warm up after a session on the ice or to watch the skaters glide past. Mulled wine, hot chocolate, hot dogs, toasties and sweet treats will be available, and you can even have your birthday party there.
Tickets for a one-hour skating session at The Ice Factor are priced at £11.50 for adults and £10.50 for children and concessions. Family packages are available for families of three, four or five. Tickets for parents and toddlers aged 4 and under are priced at £11.50 from Monday to Friday during term time. For more information on tickets (which are on sale now), visit the Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland website.
A funfair and a visit to Father Christmas
If you’d like to tick off a few festive experiences in one, you can combine your ice skating trip with a visit to Father Christmas. Visits to Santa’s Grotto are £5 per child with a £1 family booking fee. A booking is required, but can be made on the day if there are spaces. There’s also a vintage funfair, with dodgems, a speedway, games and prizes. If you’ve still got any energy left, you’re in the right place for some Christmas shopping too.
