It’s a Gruffalo! York Maze theme revealed for 2024

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark maze…This year’s York Maze theme has been revealed, and it’s a great one: the Gruffalo! Despite his terrible tusks and poisonous wart, Julia Donaldson’s creation is much loved by families and he’ll be re-created in maize plants this summer. Marking 25 years of the picture book, the maze has been planted using GPS technology to plot the pathways.

The Gruffalo’s Child is also featured in the design, as she’s marking her 20th anniversary. The Gruffalo 25th anniversary maize maze is open to explore until Monday 2nd September 2024 when the crop will be harvested. Families have to navigate the maze of pathways in the crop to find the six viewing platforms and the special photo points featuring the animals in The Gruffalo story. Find all the animals and you could win a prize.

York Maze 2023

As well as the giant maize maze, York Maze offers families a full day out with over 20 other maze and corn-themed rides, attractions and shows including the Crowmania tractor-trailer ride, the dinosaur-themed Jurassic maize, Volcorno climb, Popcorn pillow, Corn Snake Tower slides, a maze of illusions, House of Cornfusion, Corn on the Club crazy golf, Cobstacle course, shop and café. It’s a cracking summer day out, and one we’d wholeheartedly recommend.
