Exciting news for visitors to York: City Cruises York has partnered with The Riverfront York in Bishopthorpe to add it as an official stop on the popular York Riverbus service! Starting Saturday April 5th and running to 28th September 2025, this new connection will make it easier than ever to travel between York city centre and The Riverfront York, as well as their gorgeous restaurant, Bosun’s.
More fun than the car!
The addition of The Riverfront York to the Riverbus route is really exciting for visitors After all, who wants to take the boring car if you can catch a boat?! Visitors will be able to enjoy a relaxing boat ride directly to The Riverfront York, while those staying in the area can easily access the city centre without the stress of navigating traffic or finding a car parking space.
During your leisurely cruise along the River Ouse to Kings Staith York, you’ll spot Bishopthorpe Palace, the stunning 13th Century riverside residence of his Grace the Archbishop of York as well as the beautiful countryside that surrounds the city and landmarks in the city itself. The Riverbus Service is a form of transportation, not a full sightseeing tour, but you will have all the facilities of those boats that operate on sightseeing cruises. You can also travel to and from Naburn Lock and Acaster Malbis from The Riverfront York.
We’re big fans of The Riverfront as a place to eat, relax and stay for families living in and visiting York. We often pop down for a relaxed lunch by the river with the kids (the pizzas and coffee are fab) and one day we’ll make it to Bosun’s for a fancier meal. The Riverbus will operate on the following days until :
- Saturdays and Sundays: Available during the summer season
- Tuesdays and Thursdays: During school holidays only
