Easter on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is shaping up to be something special this
year. Whether you’re after adventure, creativity, or simply a magical day out with the
little ones, there’s plenty happening across the railway to keep every young explorer
entertained.
We’re also offering a free child place with every paying adult, plus reduced rates
throughout the school holidays – making it easier than ever to discover the magic of
steam.
Easter Scavenger Hunt – 28 March – 12 April – Pickering & Goathland Stations

Hidden across Pickering and Goathland stations are colourful Easter Egg boards with
special letters just waiting to be found. Unscramble them to reveal a secret word for a
chance to win an Easter egg or, for those up for a bigger challenge, collect the words
from both stations and combine them into a phrase to enter our grand prize draw for a
Family Day Ticket.
Pick up your free scavenger sheet from the Pickering and Goathland Tea Rooms and
Station Shops and let the adventure begin.
Bridge Building Challenge | 3–9 April | Visitor Centre
Think you’ve got what it takes to build a bridge over a miniature moving train track – in
five minutes or less? Call into our Visitor Centre (9:30am–4:30pm) and put your
engineering skills to the test as part of our Bridge 42 Appeal. Building zone space is
limited, so free-play activities will be available during busier periods to keep little ones
entertained while you wait.
Station Stay and Play | Wednesday 1 April | Pickering Station Classroom,
9:30–11am

Our first under-5s Stay and Play session of the season is here. Expect soft play,
sensory fun and steam-inspired activities – from foam blocks and tunnels to push-along
engines and musical toys. Little ones can also explore four activity corners: Hydration
Station, Cosy Corner, Building Base and Crafty Corner. There’s something for every tiny
adventurer.
Tickets: £3 per child (£1 for additional children). Adults free.
Station Storytime | Wednesday 8 April | Pickering Station Classroom,
10:30–11:30am
Join us for our first Station Storytime of the season, inspired by the Bridge 42 Appeal.
We’ll be reading 21 Elephants and Still Standing – the remarkable true story of P.T.
Barnum marching 21 elephants across Brooklyn Bridge in 1884 to prove it was safe.
After the story, families will explore bridge design before taking on the ultimate
challenge: build a bridge strong enough to hold 21 toy elephants. The strongest
creations win prizes!
Free to attend. Suitable for ages 5+. Donations to the Bridge 42 Appeal welcome on the
day.
This is a promotional feature in partnership with our friends at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway
