Snow is forecast in York this November, and this time, it’s guaranteed! Running from 10 November 2025 to 22 February 2026, JORVIK Viking Centre has been transformed into a spectacular snowy scene for A Winter Adventure at JORVIK. We stepped back in time to AD 960 to experience how York’s Vikings braved the cold, kept warm and celebrated winter, and can confirm that it’s another absololutely brrrr-illiant Christmas experience in York.
Following the huge success of last year’s event, JORVIK’s Viking village has been blanketed in snow and ice, with a few new surprises thrown in. The resident Vikings have been joined by the Ljósálfar (Norse elves), who are adding a touch of festive magic to the immersive experience.
Visitors travel back in time through a cutting-edge interactive temporal portal, glimpsing Viking-age York as it once was. This upgraded time-travel technology takes visitors directly to the 10th-century blacksmith’s home and workshop beneath Coppergate. We love the iconic Viking Centre ride, and this winter version gives it a really special festive twist.
Perfectly timed to coincide with York’s award-winning Christmas market, the ride through Viking-age Coppergate is a cosy escape from the winter chill and a welcome break from Christmas shopping! The experience runs right through to JORVIK Viking Festival in February, marking the traditional end of winter.
