Snow is forecast in York this November, and this time, it’s guaranteed! From 10 November 2025 to 22 February 2026, JORVIK Viking Centre will once again be transformed into a spectacular snowy scene for A Winter Adventure at JORVIK. Step back in time to AD 960 and experience how York’s Vikings braved the cold, kept warm and celebrated winter.

Following the huge success of last year’s event, JORVIK’s Viking village will once again be blanketed in snow and ice, with a few new surprises in store. The resident Vikings will be joined by the Ljósálfar (Norse elves), who’ll add a touch of festive magic to the immersive experience.

Visitors will travel back in time through a cutting-edge interactive temporal portal, glimpsing Viking-age York as it once was. This upgraded time-travel technology takes visitors directly to the 10th-century blacksmith’s home and workshop beneath Coppergate.

The experience runs right through to JORVIK Viking Festival in February, marking the traditional end of winter.
