York Unlocked – Explore York’s most intriguing places
York Unlocked is a free, annual event that introduces the city’s residents and visitors to some of its most fascinating buildings and open spaces. York Unlocked have now compiled the final list of over 50 buildings and spaces that will open their doors for this year’s York Unlocked Festival Weekend
Highlights include rare behind-the-scenes access to the National Railway Museum, Nestlé Product Technology Centre, Bettys, the Jospeh Rowntree Theare, and the Terry’s Factory Clock Tower.
It’s taking place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September 2025, and loads of the city’s most fascinating places are taking part. Some tours need pre-booking, so it pays to be organised.
There are also opportunities to see how the future of York is taking shape, with architect-led
tours of the Cocoa Works redevelopment at the former Rowntree Factory, and of the Coney
Street Riverside Development Project. Please note that FREE pre-booked tickets are
required for walking tours.
