York Georgian Festival 2026
The York Georgian Festival returns this August with five days of events celebrating life in 18th-century York. Taking place across some of the city’s most beautiful historic venues, the festival brings the Georgian era to life through talks, tours, performances, workshops and family-friendly activities.
Highlights for families include Georgian dancing for little lords and ladies, military displays, living history experiences and a colourful promenade through the city. Throughout the weekend, St Helen’s Square will host free Georgian dance performances and military drills, creating a lively atmosphere in the heart of York.
You’ll also find appearances from Horrible Histories author Terry Deary, hands-on workshops, curator talks and the spectacular York Georgian Masquerade Ball. Many events are free, while others can be booked in advance.
