See a world-class exhibition against a beautiful historic backdrop. Tony Cragg at Castle Howard is our headline contemporary sculpture exhibition features artworks in the Gardens and inside the House. Until 22 September.
Stately Sculpting
Make your own sculpted masterpiece at Castle Howard this summer! Castle Howard is hosting an array of large and colourful sculptures in the House and Gardens all summer long, created by the artist Tony Cragg. Get involved and have a go at creating your very own sculpture to take away at the Boathouse Stretch Tent, with arty activities, including clay modelling and drawing. Be inspired by the Tony Cragg sculptures or make your own masterpiece. All materials are provided, pop along and have fun getting creative! Make sure to pick up a Mini Artist Handbook from the Ticket Office and complete the art trail around the Gardens during your visit. Grown-ups must supervise their little ones at all times. 11 am until 3 pm, Thursday – Sunday from 1st August to 1st September. Free with your admission tickets.

- – Boat Trips on the Great Lake – Enjoy a relaxing ride on the Castle Howard pleasure boat, The Dame, and spot an array of Yorkshire Wildlife on the Great Lake. The Dame sets sail from the Boathouse, and boat rides last around 40 minutes. Please check with the Ticket Office for the schedule.
- – Seek adventure at Skelf Island – The perfect place for young explorers to let off steam, Skelf Island Adventure Playground is open every day. Navigate rope bridges, whizz down slides, discover ingenious treetop nests and don’t forget the zip wire.
- – Discover 300 years of history – Castle Howard has been home to the Howard family for more than 300 years. Explore extraordinary architecture and beautiful interiors when you visit the House, including the Great Hall which rises 70 feet into the air.
