Bonfire night and fireworks in York 2024 – Four family-friendly events

While we’ll never stop hoping that they’ll one day bring back the massive York bonfire night and firework displays we enjoyed as kids – anyone else remember the sight of fireworks waterfalling down Clifford’s Tower or the massive, free displays on the Knavesmire? – there are still some fun ways to celebrate York’s naughtiest plotter. Whatever you get up to, wrap up warm and stay safe!


The Poppleton Centre Bonfire & Firework Spectacular

The popular Poppleton Centre bonfire and firework spectacular returns for 2024, with all the bonfire night trimmings – massive fire, fireworks, hot food and drinks and a lovely atmosphere. Tickets are available in advance ONLY. Gates open at 5.00 pm, the bonfire’s lit at 6.15, the firework display kicks off at 7.00 and the whole event closes at 9.00 pm. This is a fundraising event. All the proceeds go towards the upkeep, maintenance and development of the Poppleton Community Centre

Rawcliffe Country Park Firework Display and Bonfire

The annual North Yorkshire Fire Service bonfire and display returns on Saturday 9th November, with live music, fairground rides, hot and cold food and their biggest firework display and bonfire!

Bonfire Night at Sandburn Hall

Wrap up warm and enjoy a spectacular evening of fireworks and family fun. There’ll be face painters, amusements and food to enjoy, as well as bonfire lighting and a firework display.

Scampston’s Firework Spectacular

Drive into stunning Scampston Hall’s 70 acre parkland for a night of spectacular pyromusical fireworks, choreographed to music. Sing and dance along to classic tracks from popular artists whilst admiring the spectacular fireworks display. There’ll be a funfair and food village, too.
