Description

Barley Hall is one of York's hidden gems, and another great York Archaeology attraction with plenty of hands-on activities for children. Tucked away down Coffee Yard, it's a stunning medieval townhouse that's been painstakingly restored. Visitors can discover more about Barley Hall's history, seeing how it would have looked as the Snawsell family home around 1483. It's a great way to explore what life would have been like in Medieval England.

Our newest exhibition, Beasts at Barley Hall, tells the stories of animals in medieval life, from domestic pets (and pests) and livestock to lions, bears and even dragons, using artefacts found in and around the city of York. Hands-on activities for children, new accessible interpretation boards, audio stories and much more make Beasts At Barley Hall a must-see if you are in York this summer!
