There are lots of great offers during this year’s York Residents’ Festival, including free admission at some of the top attractions, from Clifford’s Tower to the York Castle Museum. You might think that the Railway Museum won’t be taking part as it already offers free admission to all, all year round, but we’re delighted to let you know that there are some special offers that residents can take advantage of. Here’s what you need to know:
The new Wonderlab: The Bramall Gallery is a space designed especially for children to get hands on and think like engineers. There are lots of interactive experiences to try and don’t miss the live shows that explain the science behind the fun. The Railway Museum is offering free annual pass upgrades for day tickets bought during the weekend in the museum or online with code YRFWL24.
Visitors can also enjoy the Flying Scotsman VR Experience. Journey through time and around the world to discover the extraordinary story of Flying Scotsman as you have never seen it before. The museum is offering 50% off tickets online using YRFVR50! or book in the museum.

Wonderlab the Bramall Gallery offer:
- Automatic upgrade to an annual pass for all ticket purchasers (tickets with donation only).
- If visitors are booking their tickets online, they will need to input the promo code, select full price tickets as normal and the discount is applied at the end of the transaction when previewing the shopping basket for checkout.
- A valid York Card, student card or identity card that proves York residency must be shown on arrival.
- Entry is not guaranteed although every effort will be made to accommodate visitors.
Flying Scotsman VR Experience offer:
- Limited to the first three timeslots of each day only: 10.20, 10.40 and 11.00
- Limited tickets available, first come, first served. Pre-booking strongly recommended.
