Who needs a trip to the Alps this winter when you can get a Swiss chalet experience right in the heart of York? New for 2022, The Winter Hutte is a two-storey, alpine-inspired bar and restaurant that promises to bring a continental vibe to the city this Christmas. With a sprinkle of Christmas stardust, it’ll be appearing in Parliament Street, just outside Marks & Spencer, on 17th November 2022 and will be open right through to 1st January 2023 (except Christmas Day).

On the ground floor, the Winter Hutte bar will serve delicious seasonal drinks, from hot chocolate to mulled wine, cocktails, wine and draught beers from Brew York. There’ll be gourmet hotdogs if you’re feeling peckish. Upstairs, The Star Inn the City, owned by Michelin-starred chef Andrew Pern, will offer a shared table, bistro experience serving raclette, fondues to share, burgers and more. There’ll be veggie and vegan options, and there’s a short kids’ menu featuring crowd-pleasers like mac’n’cheese and cheeseburgers with fries.

So, that’s another thing to look forward to this Christmas, and another reason to head to St Nicholas Fair this festive season: all the fun of the apres ski without the effort on the slopes!
