The classic story of Beauty and the Beast tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company, the theatre’s official in-house production company, brings this magical family production to you. JRTC was established to help raise funds for the maintenance and development of the theatre while entertaining audiences with innovative new productions of classic and contemporary musicals. A theatre company truly rooted in the community, they welcome all members who share their love for theatre, whether seasoned performers or brand new to the stage. Since the company launched, they have raised over £35,000 for the Joseph Rowntree Theatre.

There will be a chance for little ones to meet the stars of the show and capture the magic with a photo. These meet-and-greet sessions will take place twice during the day, at 10.30am and 1pm, lasting 30 minutes each. Then, at 1.30pm, children are invited to gather around as Mrs. Potts, in her charming human form, brings the story to life during a special 30-minute reading session.

For slightly older guests, the theatre will be offering tours of the backstage areas running every hour from 10am to 3pm, giving you a peek behind the curtain and hearing from the team about what goes into putting on productions. And of course, all ages can enjoy the array of themed drinks and baked goods, including Mrs. Potts’ tea and the Disney fan-favorite “Grey Stuff,” prepared by local bakers and company members.
