Harland Miller is returning to York! Looking for an inspiring family outing this year? We’ve got just the thing: York Art Gallery is hosting an exciting new exhibition, XXX, by internationally celebrated artist and writer Harland Miller. Running from 14th March to 31 August 2025, it’s one of the most exciting cultural events in York this year and, as ever, families are warmly welcomed (warning from previous experience of taking kids along – some of his work contains fruity language!).

With bold colours, striking typography and playful language, Miller’s works captivates visitors of all ages. Coinciding with the release of a book of the same title by Phaidon, XXX features several new works by Miller, one of which celebrates the city of York. Known for his distinctive ‘Letter Paintings,’ Harland Miller takes inspiration from his childhood in 1970s Yorkshire and his globetrotting adventures in New York, New Orleans, Berlin and Paris.

The gallery has also planned a series of events to spark creativity, from hands-on community activities to a special Q&A session with the artist himself.
