Step into two iconic summers at York Castle Museum this year. The Victorian gala theme brings Kirkgate to life with seasonal flowers, bunting and a brand-new soundscape, while the 1960s gallery serves up flower power, nostalgic toys and the music of the decade. Free drop-in balloon-making workshops run every Saturday in August (included in admission), and the Exercise Yard has outdoor games for all ages from mid-July. Other exhibitions, including Secrets of Dress and York Castle Prison, are open daily throughout.
