Celebrate harvest at Beningbrough
This autumn, Beningbrough is bursting to life with a host of exciting activities to celebrate the season’s harvest! As the leaves change colour and the gardens overflow with produce, visitors are invited to dive into tastings, talks, and hands-on fun that highlight the best of what the National Trust walled garden has to offer. Whether you’re a foodie, a gardening fan, or just looking for a perfect autumn adventure, there’s something for everyone.
The celebrations will run for three weeks, from Wednesday 16 October to Sunday 3 November 2024, giving you plenty of time to embrace the magic of autumn.
Fridays – Garden Harvest Talks
On Fridays, pop into the walled garden where the National Trust’s gardeners will share their secrets about autumn garden care and seasonal produce. It’s the perfect chance to get up close with the harvest, and maybe pick up a tip or two for your own garden!
Wednesdays – Sampling
As the pumpkins plump up and apples ripen, you can join Beningbrough’s expert gardeners for a tasting adventure. Every Wednesday, sample freshly harvested fruits and vegetables straight from the garden—autumn doesn’t get more delicious than this!
Thursdays – Jam & Chutney Tastings at the Stables Shop
On Thursdays, swing by the stables shop anytime during the day for a taste of jams, curds, and chutneys made from local ingredients. It’s a great way to bring a taste of Yorkshire home with you!
Sundays – Meet the Makers
Sundays bring a special treat: local producers like Sing Gin, Spirit of Yorkshire, and Ellers Farm Distillery will be on hand for ‘Meet the Maker’ events. Sip on locally crafted gin and whisky while learning about the artistry behind these spirits.
Fridays – Tasting time
Make sure you’re around on Fridays at 3 p.m., when the restaurant team serves up seasonal delights.
Autumn Display in the Stable Yard
Don’t miss the seasonal display in the stable yard, where the gardeners have created a stunning autumnal centrepiece bursting with rich colours and vibrant produce. It’s the perfect photo op to capture the beauty of the season.
Beningbrough’s gardens are the ultimate setting for an autumn walk. With trees glowing in golden hues, ornamental vines trailing over gateways, and rows of colourful chard, pumpkins, and leeks, you’ll be surrounded by the best of the season. Dogs are welcome too, so bring your furry friend along for the stroll!
There’s even more to explore with the hall and art galleries, featuring the brand-new exhibition The Botanical World of Mary Delany. Plus, the wilderness play area and wide-open parkland offer plenty of space for family fun.
