Made from Happy Meals! New play area for Eden Camp

Eden Camp

Eden Camp, the Modern History Museum in Malton, has always been a good place to visit with children, and it’s set to get even better. In line with their new green mission, the popular family-friendly attraction has announced that it’s making a new play area from recycled McDonald’s Happy Meals!

Eden Camp’s under 5s play area was renovated back in 2020, and now it’s the turn of the junior play area. They wanted to make it as eco-friendly as possible, so the new play area will be constructed using 95% recycled polymer plastic (reducing the carbon footprint by 96% compared to newly manufactured plastics). The museum is also repurposing some of the salvageable wood taken from the old play area within the foundations of the structure, acting as a carbon sink right next door to the car park. Any old materials such as wood or play bark have been responsibly recycled or composted where possible. It’s all good news for the environment, and good news for family visitors to Eden Camp! We can’t wait to see it – keep an eye on Little Vikings for updates on the opening.
