We’re thrilled to announce that Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon School exhibition, inspired by a brand-new story by the bestselling author, is opening at York’s DIG from 21st July!
Based on Cressida Cowell’s spin off How to Train Your Dragon School series, this immersive exhibition brings the Isle of Berk to life with vibrant settings, hands-on activities, and a whole lot of dragon training. Perfect for children aged 5 to 12 (and the grown-ups who love dragons too), the exhibition combines storytelling with interactive discovery to create a truly magical experience.
Visitors can expect to greet a Windwalker soaring overhead, and meet beloved characters including Hiccup, Gobber the Belch, Old Wrinkly, and Camicazi beside The Hopeful Puffin Mark 4. Budding archaeologists can explore a brand-new DIG pit, uncovering hidden treasures inspired by the world of dragons. Step inside Hiccup’s bedroom hut and experience daily life on the Isle of Berk, follow the Dragon Trail through the exhibition, test your skills with Viking fortune-telling, and explore the unique sounds and smells of Berk. Visitors can also enjoy exclusive videos from Cressida Cowell herself and view original book artwork and maps from the new series.
How to Train Your Dragon School is the latest instalment in Cressida Cowell’s world of dragons that has captured imaginations around the world. The series follows Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III and his dragons, Toothless and Windwalker, as they begin their training at the Viking and Dragon Training School on the Isle of Berk. The first book in the series has just been released in paperback by Hachette Children’s Group, with a second book due out in 2026. This brand-new exhibition celebrates the series in a way that brings the story off the page and into the hands of young fans.
The exhibition is included with standard DIG admission. Even better, your ticket is treated as a donation, meaning you can return as many times as you like for free within 12 months of your visit.
Ticket prices are £10.50 for adults, £9.50 for children, £9.65 for students, £32.00 for families of four, £37.00 for families of five, and free for under 5s.
