NEW Gruffalo Trail at Dalby Forest!

Dalby Forest

Exciting news, Gruffalo fans (that’s all of us, right?!): a new Gruffalo trail is coming to Dalby Forest just in time for February half term to mark the 25th anniversary of the much-loved picture book.

To mark this remarkable milestone, Dalby Forest invites families from across England to join in the festivities and celebrate the Gruffalo’s 25th birthday on an exciting new trail experience, launching on 24th January 2024. The Gruffalo’s 25th birthday trail is going to be a big party in the forest! As part of the adventure, families will be encouraged to work together to search for missing party items whilst enjoying fun and games along the trail. Participants will also learn about the intricate ways plants and animals look after each other.

The trails will boast five large activity panels, two of which will include interactive elements. In addition, visitors can expect 15 smaller spotter panels, where they can search for missing party items. Five rubbing stations will also be scattered along the trail, adding an artistic touch to the adventure. For extra fun, you can buy a £4 activity pack from the Dalby Forest Visitor Centre, including an activity leaflet, stickers, pencils, crayons, festive headband and even a woven Gruffalo sew-on patch.

As a reminder, entry to Dalby Forest is free, just pay to park. There’s a cafe, loos and an amazing adventure playground at the Visitor Centre, as well as tons of walking and cycling trails. No wonder it’s one of our top days out for families in York.
