Looking for an unforgettable family outing in York this year? York’s much-loved Colour & Light event, brought to the city by The York BID, is back and set to dazzle visitors of all ages at the iconic York Minster. Running from Wednesday 12th February to Sunday 2nd March 2025, this completely free event is one of our favourites of the year.
This year, Colour & Light will celebrate York’s wildlife through breathtaking 3D projection mapping, bringing the South Transept of York Minster to life with stories of the city’s nature. From the peregrine falcons nesting high above the Minster to the foxes prowling York’s quiet streets at night, the event highlights both well-known and hidden tales of the animals that have shaped the city’s history.
Families can marvel at depictions of Roman horses galloping into ancient Eboracum and mythical dragons etched into York’s past, all showcased in a captivating visual display. Whether you’re local or visiting, it’s a must-visit immersive experience that gets the Little Vikings seal of approval.
