Yorkies often describe Beningbrough as an extension of their own back garden, and it's easy to see why local families return time and again. This National Trust 18th century house and its pretty grounds have plenty to offer for a day out with kids in tow. As well as the house itself, there are beautiful gardens with plenty of space to run about, and a great adventure playground and wilderness play area too. It’s not just an outdoor option either – head upstairs in the house for hands-on fun for kids. There are two cafes and plenty of space for a picnic. Holiday activities are excellent so keep your eye out.
Good to know – If you fancy a walk around the grounds, pick up a map at reception. There are a few alternatives depending on how energetic you’re feeling. For stunning views across to York, go to the top of the house. Free entry to National Trust members.
