Agility Adventure Fitness Park, on Millfield Lane, has only been open for seven weeks, but you’d never guess it. We had a look around and were very impressed by what we found: a large, well-designed space packed full of play opportunities for kids of all ages (and adults who want to channel their inner Gladiator!). If you’re looking for somewhere in York to tire out your children, look no further.
There are two courses: Agility Ninja for children aged 4+ and Agility Warrior for kids aged 12+ (although watch this space for changes to the age guidance and session set-up). Hour-long sessions take place throughout the day, all supervised by trained staff. There are special toddler sessions, family sessions if you all want to have a go together (the family who sweats together stays together….probably), quiet sessions for children with additional needs and sessions designed for kids who want to race around the course. We love the sound of the parkour classes, too, with sessions for children aged 7 upwards.
In short, you can tell that Agility’s been designed by parents of young children because the family element has been so well thought out. For really little ones, there’s even a mini soft play-style assault course aimed at toddlers and babies.
Hungry after all that activity? Agility’s restaurant and cafe, The Shack, is worth hanging around for. There’s a tempting menu of main meals and snacks that goes way beyond standard soft play mass catering, very good coffee, delicious cakes and even freshly made gelato.
With free wifi, comfy sofas and plenty of seating, it’s a great family-friendly space. It’s no wonder that they’re already booking up with birthday parties. Agility has already tired out hundreds of children since they opened at the end of 2019, and it looks like they’ll be welcoming many more in the year ahead and beyond. If you’re looking for something active to do with your children in York, Agility is definitely worth a visit. The fact that it’s a new, family-run, independent York business is an added bonus too.
