Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta 2021 – New name, new dates!

York Balloon Fiesta 2021

York Balloon Fiesta has quickly become one of the most popular events in York’s annual calendar. It took a break in 2020 for obvious reasons, but it’s going ahead in 2021 with new dates and a new name! Due to the ongoing restrictions, organisers have reorganised the festival for Friday 27th to Monday 30th August 2021 its usual location: York Knavesmire. There are some other changes for this year, including a new admission fee and measures to comply with any government rules at the time.

New admission fee for Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta

This year’s Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta will be introducing a £3 entry charge for anyone over 1m tall. This one-off charge will give you a wristband which allows you entry to the whole event for the 3 days as many times as you require. Recognising that the last 12 months have been extremely difficult for our local charities to raise vital fundraising, £1 from each wristband entry will be split and donated between three local charities which are, St Leonards Hospice, York Rescue Boat and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. This year, the event site will be fenced off to allow the event to adhere to any government guidance related to the pandemic such as limits on capacity.

New entertainment and activities for 2021

Visitors to 2021’s Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta will enjoy a giant firework, laser and drone show finale which wristband holders can enjoy on the Sunday evening. The beautiful hot air balloon night glows will return on both Friday and Saturday evenings, too (weather permitting). Included in the entry fee there will be entertainment on the main stage all weekend hosted by York Mix Radio’s Breakfast Show presenters Ben Fry and Laura Castle along with Ryan Swain from the Saturday Party Mix. There’ll be live music from Phats and Small, Abba Arrival, The Dolly Parton Experience, Definitely Oasis and Sam Sax. There will also be York’s largest funfair with some of Europe’s largest rides including the world’s longest continuous inflatable assault course and wild mouse rollercoaster.
