York’s first community-led #walkcyclefestival kicks off this weekend, celebrating York’s heritage through fun, free walks and rides. There’s loads going on, from walks with monks, a spooky cycle tour, a charity bike ride around York’s historic houses and lots more.
Our top recommendation for families is the community launch party in Rowntree Park on Sunday 28th May (11am to 4pm): try out a wacky bike with Get Cycling, have your bike fixed for free by Dr Bike, listen to music from Arts Barge Project’s community Bargestra orchestra, enjoy some storytelling, have your bike security marked by the police, make some bunting and meet local walking and cycling groups. It all sounds wheely great – see you there!
