Good news! York Museum Gardens to open longer

York Museum Gardens

York Museum Gardens is one of the most beautiful green spaces in the city, and one of our favourite places to let children run off some energy. Perfect for hide-and-seek, squirrel-spotting and exploring nature – not to mention enjoying an ice cream during the summer months – it’s a lifesaver for parents in York. And the good news is that we’ll all be able to enjoy it for longer from 1st April 2022 as the opening hours are extended: the gates will be open from 9am until 6pm daily and we can’t wait.

Not only are the Museum Gardens home to The Yorkshire Museumalso opening again on 8th April 2022 – but they’re just a stone’s throw from some of the best family-friendly places in York, including:

York Explore Libraryexcellent children’s section and cafe

York Theatre Royalbrilliant children’s shows and family-friendly cafe

The Blue House Book ShopYork’s independent children’s bookshop

– York Art GalleryRegular exhibitions and hands-on activities for children

You could also pop into the Visit York Information Centre (1 Museum Street, York) to pick up a Little Vikings I Spy Trail map and do our free, family-friendly walk around York. All in all, that’s a lot of good reasons to head to this area of York with children!
