If one of your family’s new year’s resolutions is to be more active, we’ve got a novel idea for getting your step count up: climbing the York Minster tower! With 275 steps in both directions, you’ll soon be on your way to your 10,000. More importantly, you’ll also be rewarded with some of the most spectacular views of York and beyond. It’s normally £5 in addition to admission, but this weekend (8th & 9th February 2020), York residents can climb the tower for Yorkshire’s favourite price – free! – as part of York Residents Festival. This isn’t one for little legs – in fact there’s an age restriction of eight – but older kids who can manage the climb will feel brilliant when they make it to the top. It’s a really fun thing to do and definitely gets the Little Vikings seal of approval.
