Even if you’ve got a fussy eater or two in your household (we definitely do), we bet there’s something in the programme for this year’s York Food Festival that they’ll enjoy. Here are our highlights for kids:
York Cocoa House Workshop – Join Sophie Jewett, the star of York’s Chocolate revival, to watch her demonstrating how to temper chocolate (free). The whole family can then head to the Cocoa House to get involved in making and decorating their very own chocolate bicycle! £4 per person, pay on the door.
Young Chef Competition – Get your little Vikings inspired to get cooking by watching the heats of the Young Chef Competition (free to watch)
York Petits Amis – A French food demonstration with some French learning for 2-7 year olds. Read more about it here. Free but book online.
Florian Poirot Macaroon Demonstration – Everyone loves a macaroon, and you can learn how to make them here and then have a go at home with the kids later.
The Food Festival is running from June 20th to 29th and it’s all going to be taking place in York city centre (demonstration area at St Sampson’s Square). For details of dates and times of events, check the Festival’s website.
