Yet again, 2020 has waved its wand of doom: the popular York Balloon Fiesta has had to be postponed due to the restrictions on mass gatherings. The event has now been rescheduled and will take place from Friday 28th to Monday 31st May 2021 on the Knavesmire.

York Balloon Fiesta is York’s largest free entry event and Yorkshire’s Largest Hot Air Balloon Festival, and attracts over 30,000 spectators. It’s very popular with families, winning a Little Vikings Award for Best Festival. Next year’s event will be worth the wait. New for 2021, there’ll be a dazzling large-scale firework and laser display which visitors can enjoy as part of the free entry event on Monday night. The beautiful hot air balloon night glows on both Friday and Saturday evenings will return, as will York’s largest funfair. There’ll be kids’ activities, live music and entertainment from the likes of CBeebies’ Andy and the Oddsocks too. Put it in your diary and let’s hope life is back to normal by then!
