Who needs Glastonbury? We’ve got the Galtres Parklands Festival

Galtres Festival - (c) Daniel EastonWould you love to take the kids to Glastonbury but can’t face the journey? Secretly fancy going to Leeds Festival to relive your youth, but think it could be a bit much for the children? Then take a look at Galtres Parklands Festival. Running from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th August at Duncombe Park, Helmsley, this family-friendly festival has something for everyone. Set in several hundred acres of parkland, with the backdrop of the baroque mansion of Duncombe Park, visitors will enjoy a packed programme of events, lovely local food and beers and a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.

As well as world-famous headliners, from Tricky and Morcheeba to Levellers and The Human League, there’s also plenty for little festival-goers. This year the theme is the Great Yorkshire Seaside, and the family area is being turned into Tall Trees Island, complete with Galleon stage, beach and donkey rides.  Children’s activities include Bollywood dance and theatre workshops, interactive storytelling, traditional funfair rides and much more. A great way to spend the bank holiday, hopefully without the traditional British bank holiday weather…
