York’s very own Bishopthorpe Road has made the finals of the prestigious Great British High Street Awards for the second year in a row. It’s a well-deserved achievement for a street that hosts street parties and bake-offs, raises oodles of cash for charity and always puts the community at the heart of everything it does. That’s on top of being a great place to shop and eat for all the family. Where else can you get a haircut, eat homemade Sicilian gelato, buy your child’s first bike (with expert advice), get everything you need to bake and decorate a birthday cake, pick up a world-class chocolate brownie, enjoy a brilliant cup of coffee, buy a hoola hoop, stock up your first aid kit for all those scooter-related grazes and tuck into pie and mash while the kids draw in chalk on the tables, all within just a few metres?
It’s a great achievement to have made the shortlist, but Bishy Road needs you to help them win! The decision will be made by a combination of public vote and expert decision and you can vote online once per day until voting closes. Head over to the Great British High Street website to do your bit to make sure Bishy Road gets the recognition it deserves.
