Coming soon to a bookshelf near me: the Pig and Pastry Cookbook. The much-loved neighbourhood cafe on Bishopthorpe Road is launching its very first cookbook on 27th September. If you fancy having a go at recreating some of their delicious dishes at home, look no further; the combination of Steve Holding’s lovely recipes and Karen Turner’s stunning food photography will have you whipping up crowd-pleasing breakfasts and more in no time. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to poach an egg like they do, but I’m willing to give it a go (and if all else fails, they’re open and serving perfect poached eggs from Monday to Saturday…).
If you needed any other reason to buy the book, all profits are going to the Candlelighters charity which does amazing work to support families affected by children’s cancer. Count me in for a copy. Or several in fact, what with Christmas being around the corner (sorry folks, but it’ll be here before we know it). I can think of a few friends and family who’d be very happy to find it under the tree on December 25th. The Pig and Pastry Cookbook will be available in the cafe or via the Candlelighters website.
