- If it’s fishy family fun you’re after, look no further than The Deep. This aquarium houses around 3,500 fish, from little tiddlers to sharks and rays. There’s a colony of penguins that are seriously cute too. It’s well laid out so that even the youngest visitor will learn something about sealife through the hands-on exhibits. The Deep’s newest residents are Senza and Mabouche, a pair of Loggerhead sea turtles, who can be found swimming about in the Endless Ocean display. Visitors can also view the new-look Lagoon display featuring colourful new corals, large mangrove trees and hundreds of tropical fish.
It’s lucky that tickets to The Deep are valid for a year from your visit, as children often ask to go back again very soon. It’s an impressive attraction that appeals to visitors of all ages, making it a great destination for all the family. The small soft play area half way around shows just how far they’ve gone to cater for children.
The Deep says…The Deep is home to 5,000 animals including sharks, rays, Gentoo penguins and Europe’s only pair of Green sawfish! Daily highlights include touch pool sessions which allow you to get hands-on with some of our smaller native species, dive shows and penguin feeding. Explore the underwater tunnel where you will spot sharks and stingrays gliding overhead then take a journey back to the surface in our underwater lift. For tiny tots who love sing-alongs and soft play, the Little Nippers events are a must. Come and join us on a Tuesday Morning (term time only) from 9.30am to 11 am. We offer various small group and 1:1 experiences for children through the year where your youngster can get behind the scenes and help carry out some of The Deep’s daily activities.
