
Looking to entertain the little Vikings this february half-term? JORVIK Viking Centre will be hosting the world’s largest online Viking Festival 19th – 27th February. Here’s what you need to know.
What’s involved?
That JORVIK Viking Thing will include hoards of content from livestreams, podcasts and video on demand so you and the little ones can immerse yourself in Viking life at home! Listeners can also enjoy music, plenty of children’s activities (including a chance to make your own Viking poo!) and a host of on-demand video that can be enjoyed by people all over the world. Last year the Thing reached a global audience of around 3.6 million…Plus, this year, there’ll be a special livestreamed talk on the Silverdale Hoard to coincide with one of the largest hoards ever found in the UK arriving at JORVIK Viking Centre this February! The main JORVIK Viking Festival returns to York in person later in the year.

When will it take place?
The online Festival will take place during half-term week (19 -27 February 2022).
How can I access content?
All content will be released on the Thing website, with a mixture of free and paid-for content. Make sure you get your tickets booked for highlights events!

Viking fun for the whole family
From children’s events to academic lectures there’s something for the whole family to get involved in. Plus, School’s Week will also be returning from 14th-18th February – with plenty of pre-recorded, livestreamed and downloadable content for teachers to use in the classroom!
