Story Craft Theatre will be providing 21 hours of craft and storytelling fun, to help raise vital funds for Shine21. Story Craft is an award-winning Yorkshire-based children’s theatre company made up of two actors: Janet Bruce who appeared in Sweeney Todd in the West End, and Cassie Vallance. Cassie was part of York’s Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre season and this year’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic at Rowntree Park. Together, Cassie and Janet have hosted sell-out shows at York Theatre Royal, Goose Harrogate and this Christmas will be appearing at Castle Howard. Since lockdown, the pair have moved their interactive storytelling sessions online and have attracted audiences from all over the world, with their creative and educational classes.
On Friday 27th and Saturday 28th of November 2020, Cassie and Janet will be hosting these classes for you to enjoy via Zoom. All they ask in return is for a donation to the Shine21 charity. Classes will run all day, beginning at 7am Friday. There are lots of storybook adventures to choose from: Going on a Bear Hunt, The Gruffalo, Hairy Maclary, Aliens Love Underpants and so many more! They are even providing hour-long interactive craft classes.
All the sessions can be booked online – click on the button below for more details. As these classes are interactive, numbers are limited and it is advised to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Tickets are now on sale! Please feel free to donate whatever you can, all the money raised through Story Craft will go directly to the charity.
Shine21 is a York-based charity organisation that helps enhance the lives of children with Down syndrome. Janet’s second child was born with Down syndrome and a heart condition, both of which were discovered after birth. The diagnosis was unexpected and at first, scary, however, the support and advice offered by Shine21 was phenomenal. Shine21 have supported Janet and her family every step of the way and introduced them to others who have been through a similar experience.
The charity does invaluable work to help children and their families, but unfortunately, due to the pandemic, they have not been able to raise the vital funds they need this year. This 21-hour storytelling event is an opportunity for you to help Shine21 – you don’t even need to attend the event to donate. 100% of the money raised by Story Craft Theatre will go directly to the charity.
