Description

Barley Hall is one of York's hidden gems, and another great York Archaeology attraction with plenty of hands-on activities for children. Tucked away down Coffee Yard, it's a stunning medieval townhouse that's been painstakingly restored. Visitors can discover more about Barley Hall's history, seeing how it would have looked as the Snawsell family home around 1483. It's a great way to explore what life would have been like in Medieval England.

Explore the history of York through the drama of Shakespeare at a brand new exhibition, Bard at Barley Hall. Discover costumes from popular plays, including Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, dress up and perform your own scenes on the interactive stage, and even stage your own shadow puppet performances of Hamlet and Macbeth!
