St Helen’s Square Christmas Lights Switch-on this Thursday

Christmas officially kicks off in York this Thursday 17th November with the lights switch-on at St Helen’s Square. The Lord and Lady Mayoress will do the honours, with the cast of the York Theatre Royal pantomime count down to the illumination of the St Leonard’s Hospice ‘Light up a Life’ Christmas tree and lights around the square. The Shepherd Group’s brass band and local choirs will provide a festive soundtrack to proceedings.

It marks the start to a busy festive season in York, with five themed weekends coming up: brass bands weekend (19th & 20th November), choirs weekend (26th & 27th November), family weekend (3rd & 4th December), Ice Trail weekend (10th & 11th December) and a Shambles Market Christmas Party celebration weekend (17th & 18th December).

Head to St Helen’s Square for 6pm, with the lights to be switched on around 6.15/6.20pm.
