If your kids are anything like ours, they’ll love making their own obstacle courses at home and scrambling over chairs, cushions and blankets while you’re furiously trying to tidy up after them. If that’s something they enjoy, there’s an exciting new event coming to Castle Howard this year that might be right up their street: Spartan.
Spartan Obstacle Course Race for kids
Spartan is the world’s largest obstacle course race (OCR) and it’s coming north for the first time, on 5th and 6th September 2020. There are some serious adult races, with a 5km obstacle ‘sprint’ and a harder 10k 25-obstacle ‘super’. Even better, from our point of view, is the fact that children can take part too, with specific children’s races for kids aged 4 to 14. They’ll tackle mini versions of the adult obstacles, and they’ll get a medal and T-shirt for taking part. Parents can give them a hand if they need it, or cheer them on from the sidelines. It sounds like great fun, and it’s something they can train for (in theory!) and look forward to during the summer holidays too.
