Rudolf and The Witches at the West Yorkshire Playhouse this Christmas

We’ve got some fabulous Christmas shows coming up in York this year, but a short hop away in Leeds the West Yorkshire Playhouse is putting on something special too. In fact they’ve got two great shows coming up and there’s not a pantomime dame in sight. Rudolf, a lovely tale about the famous reindeer, is aimed at a younger audience while The Witches, Roald Dahl’s scariest tale, is ideal for older kids. Here’s a bit more about them.

Things to do in York with kids - Little VikingsRudolf

All Rudolf has ever wanted to do is to pull Santa’s sleigh. But only the best reindeer get to do that. And the best reindeer don’t have red noses…It’s Rudolf’s first day at Reindeer School and he’s feeling nervous. Rudolf has a furry little face, tiny little hooves and lovely little antlers just like the other reindeers. The one problem is his big red nose. Worrying he doesn’t fit in, Rudolf feels like he’ll never get the chance to pull Santa’s sleigh. But, with the help of the kind Ugly Duckling, will he make friends and fulfil his destiny? Suitable for children aged 2+.

Witches absolutely detest children. They find them revolting and are planning to wipe them out like weasels! They want to squish them and squiggle them and make them disappear. But one brave young boy and his grandmother have a plan to get rid of the witches for good… if only they can avoid being turned into mice. The Witches is full of fabulously frightening Dahlicious moments and is recommended for children aged 7+ and their brave grown-ups.
