Forget your staycation and cancel your flights: for family entertainment this Easter, look no further than York! Yes, York Easter Family Festival is back and we’re delighted to be working with our friends at Visit York to be part of it again.
Over the Easter bank holiday weekend we’ll be setting up camp in Parliament Street and hosting a full programme of free kids’ activities that you can drop in and try, just like last year but with some new additions. It’ll run from Good Friday to Easter Monday from 10am to 4pm and children can come along and enjoy:
- Joining in a drama class with PQA
- Having a go at computer coding with York Maker Hub
- Trying rugby with Rugbytots
- Enjoy storytelling and crafting with Hoglets
- Making some sand art with The Web Adventure Park
- Making cress eggs with Little Bites Cookery School
- Getting crafty with Minty Events
- Having a go at a no-bake recipe with Clare’s Kitchen
- Dancing with En Pointe
And more to be confirmed! We’re also lining up some great competitions so come along and do some awesome Easter colouring for the chance to win an exciting prize. Outside the activity tent you’ll find Punch & Judy, a jolly jester and, further along the street, a funfair. On Friday, Sunday and Monday there’ll be a children’s petting zoo where you can meet pygmy goats, guinea pigs, lambs, chickens and more. There’ll also be a pedal-powered velodrome and junior track in the Drax Drome where kids can try out a variety of vehicles and learn about renewable energy and pedal power. Activities will vary each day, so keep an eye on our website, Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram for the latest and to make sure you don’t miss anything.
But it’s not Easter without eggs, so on Easter Sunday you can join a fun bunny trail in Shambles Market and there’s also a new city-wide Chocolate Easter Trail: buy a trail card at the Visit York Information Centre, follow the map, solve puzzles and receive a chocolatey treat donated by York Cocoa House.
It’s going to be cracking – see you there!
