York Easter Family Festival
York Easter Family Festival is back and we’re delighted to be working with our friends at Visit York to be part of it again. Over the Easter bank holiday weekend we’ll be setting up camp in Parliament Street and hosting a full programme of free kids’ activities that you can drop in and try, just like last year but with some new additions. Try a Rugbytots session, get stuck into some drama with PQA, enjoy creative storytelling with Hoglets, get crafty with Minty Events, go on a magical quest with Magical Quests North, bring your baby for a massage (co-ordinated by Avocado Events) and lots more. Farm fun at Castle Howard

Nunnington Hall has it all this Easter: scarecrows, vegetable planting, a bonnet contest, family races and even a Cadbury egg trail. The Easter bunny has been spotted in Nunnington’s gardens, trying to gobble up all of the spring crops. Embark on the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt to help the Nunnington scarecrows find where he’s been hiding and claim your chocolate prize. On Sunday 16th April and Monday 17th April, help to build more Nunnington scarecrows to keep the Easter Bunny at bay.

Medieval Marvels at the Yorkshire Museum
Meet a medieval character to learn about life behind the walls of St Mary’s Abbey, create stunning ‘stained glass windows’ and discover the history behind medieval feasts. Meet a monk or medieval lady to find out about their lives, find out about medieval foods and create your own ‘stained glass’ from coloured cellophane (all daily, 11am to 1pm & 2pm to 4pm).

Hunt the gold bunny on the Lindt trail at Harlow Carr
Join the hunt for the Lindt gold bunny at Harlow Carr gardens in Harrogate this Easter. Successful detectives will receive a special gold treat at the end of their adventure. There’ll also be a range of Easter activities including storytelling, crafts, visits from the Easter bunny himself and birds of prey demonstrations. Visit the website for times and dates.

Easter egg hunt and egg rolling competition at Fountains Abbey
The annual egg rolling competition on the abbey green at Fountains Abbey sounds great fun. Bring your boiled eggs and see how far yours will go. A plain old egg is fine, but if you get artistic and turn it into something creative, why not enter the egg decorating contest? Bring your creation along ready for a very special long eared guest to see! There’s also a Cadbury egg hunt to embark on (runs 1st to 23rd April).

Picture Perfect at York Art Gallery
Dress up in the costumes of characters in the paintings and follow a trail to find them and then collect a sticker (50p per trail). Visit the fabulous Studio between 10th and 21st April (11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm) to dress up as your favourite gallery character then create a story about them.
Embark on the Cadbury trail at Beningbrough Hall
Over the bank holiday weekend, take on the Cadbury egg hunt, decorate an egg and challenge yourself with egg and spoon races at Beningbrough. The gardens are at their best too, with daffodils galore. Little ones can grab a bike or trike to expore on, and no trip’s complete without a visit to the adventure playground. Don’t forget there’s lots to do in the hall, too.

Flip’pin Fantastic Fun at The Deep
Have a turtley amazing time at The Deep this Easter to celebrate the arrival of two new Loggerhead sea turtles. Learn about the new residents in the Endless Ocean presentations throughout the day, and even make your own turtle in the family craft area. See the newly refurbished Lagoon complete with a wide array of new fish and find out how the display was created in the ‘Meet the Mangroves’ presentations.

Embark on a Cracking Chocolate Adventure at York’s Chocolate Story
Kids can can immerse themselves in a chocolatey adventure with York’s Chocolate Story this Easter on one of their popular walking tours. Taking place in the beautiful surroundings of the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, children will join Egbert on a quest to find his lost Easter eggs and defeat Sheldon the wicked stoat who is on a mission to steal Easter! The adventure starts at York’s Chocolate Story daily at 11.30am and 2pm on the dates below, and will make its way to the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall. Tours will take place on 8th and 9th April and daily from 13th to 17th April.

Egg trail at The Balloon Tree
