Let’s go fly a kite…at the Kite Festival at Scarborough Castle in May half term

Get to grips with the art of kite flying at Scarborough Castle over the bank holiday weekend. Expert flyers will dazzle with displays on the headland: see gigantic kites in flight, watch synchronised demonstrations to music, have a go at making your own kite (or bring one from home) and try it out in the family flying area where you can also get top tips on making it soar. We visited Scarborough Castle recently for the first time and had a cracking time running around the ruins, looking out to sea, throwing coins down the well and rolling down the banks (the kids, not us). We took a picnic and enjoyed an ice cream and coffee from the little café too. We even ran out of time to visit the beach.

The Kite Festival is at Scarborough Castle from 27th May to 29th May, 11am to 5pm. Scarborough Castle, Castle Road, Scarborough YO11 1HY – Family ticket £18.50 (free for English Heritage members) – Book online to get 10% off
